Union of body, mind and soul.

Daily writing prompt
What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?

Last November, I quit my high paying corporate job to focus on my family and myself. It was a sudden decision, at that moment, it felt like pulling the plug of a high speed tread mill, in which the function to reduce the speed was broken. I was exhausted of running the marathon.

Initially, I felt liberated; finally, I could do whatever my heart desired. Binge-watch my favorite TV series, go on a coffee date with my adorable daughter, catch up with long lost friends and visit my parents.

This jubilation lasted only for a couple of weeks, after that I felt lost. For 19 long years, each minute of my day was accounted for and all of sudden, I had so much time on hand and nothing concrete to do.

That’s when, I decided to build a stringent regime, which was life altering. I started going to the gym six days a week and the results were most gratifying. Even in the midst of loud music, continuous thud sounds of gymnasium equipment and people chatting; I was calm and experienced a sense of tranquility. I was able to disconnect with all the external sounds and focus internally. Work on my body, mind and soul. It’s here that I got a calling to start writing, which I obeyed and I’m relishing its benefits. Surprisingly, while working out, I get ideas on what I should write next.

All the physical activity has also helped build my stamina and tone my body. At last, I have been able to shed all the extra kilos and fit into out fits that I wore during my college days. I feel beautiful both internally and externally.

Another daily habit I have inculcated is tucking my daughter to bed each night and spending some precious moments with her. During this time, she reads Indian mythological stories, chats with me, tells me if anything is bothering her or if she is excited about something and finally we say our prayers and thank God before calling it a night. This habit has not only helped me build a strong bond with her but also instill strong character building values.

Thank you for reading, have a blessed day!
