TV Time, Family Time

What TV shows did you watch as a kid?

As a kid born in the 80s, we did not have the luxury of TV for quite sometime. We spent our days reading, engaging in out door activities and going to the beach to witness the majestic sunset. Enjoying the wonders of nature.

I vaguely remember, dad had purchased a black and white TV set with a shutter lock, but somehow it never caught my fancy, till such time it was replaced with a colored television.

Our life changed overnight, we had our entire family and neighbors come over to watch Doordarhan channel and we watched chitrahaar, (a program that played the latest movie songs). Gul kihle hain gulshan, gulshan (a program where Indian movie actors were interviewed). Sunday mornings were the most happening at 0900am we would watch Ramayan( Indian mythological series depicting the life of Lord Ram).

Oh how, we would wake up early, take a shower, get ready finish breakfast so that we could watch it together as a family. My granny’s excitement and animated reactions were the most adorable, I would be watching her most of the time than the series.

Once satellite TV and its shows were introduced, I did watch wonder years and Remington Steele, oh I had a massive crush on Pierce Brosnan 😍.

With the influx of so much of content being readily available to watch anytime of the day, some how I missed the enthusiasm of watching TV with the entire family, the bonding and the chat after the show and the weekly wait to watch the next episode.

Wonderful memories.
