Lost Myself In Online Search

Daily writing prompt
What was the last thing you searched for online? Why were you looking for it?

Wow, for this one I have to truly think through. Oh! wait a minute, I have a solution, I’ll quickly search for what I had last searched for 🙂

Yes finally, I have the answer, I searched for the list of upcoming Indian festivals, so that I can coordinate and plan to spend all festivities with my extended family. Nudge them all to book their tickets and get my little one excited too.

As I go through my search history, it saddens me to realise how addicted I am to the internet. How I no longer make the effort to think and search for answers myself, go through the pile of books that I’ve so passionately collected over the years. The only issue being that this physical search would take time and the internet would give me answers in a matter of seconds.

My two cents is that as technology is progressing and global information is available at our finger tips, its making us lazier. I no longer see the same hunger or drive to gather knowledge. Today’s school projects are a mere replica of the information available on the internet.

I miss the days, when my friends and I would visit the library, go through each aisle looking for the books that would help us prepare for projects, exams or any activity. This tireless search, though at times physically draining, gave us a sense of accomplishment and helped us build a genuine opinion, based on the countless credible pages we researched. This knowledge has remained with us, ingrained in our minds and with a slight trigger, we are able to recall it.

But today, we have becomes slaves to the digital world and blindly rely on the information available through a meager internet search or a video that goes viral of any social influencer. Well, I’m going to make an effort, to try to free myself from it’s clutches and search for information the old school way.

Thank you for reading, have a blessed day!
