Person In The Mirror!

If aliens arrived tomorrow, what’s the first thing you’d ask them?

As I attempt to write this blog, I tempted to pen what I observe each morning outside my window. But today, it was a slightly different sight, forcing me to pause and think the way I choose to lead my life.

Like any ordinary morning, there was a rush of parents dropping their little ones off at a designated bus stop. Some ran just to make it in time, some carried heaps of bags, some chatted with others, while others caught up on their calls and messages. Yet, most of them shared one thing in common. No, it was not simply that they had children; it was that most of them carried their phones in their free hand. And amongst this crowd, I saw a father and his teenager daughter walk together holding hands completely immersed in a light hearted conversation. I was enamoured by the spring in their steps and the smiles that lit up their faces.

Later during the day, as I stood in front of the mirror, I felt like an alien on this planet. lost in some digital world oblivious to the wonders of nature and missing out on an opportunity to enjoy this life. This realisation stayed with me for quite sometime, but was soon drowned out by the buzzing sound of my phone’s notification and I found myself busy chatting with another alien friend of mine.
